How We Work Out Your Fees
We know parents like to see exactly where their money goes. Here's a full breakdown of the monthly fee and how it is calculated across the course year.
| Monthly fee | £300 + £60 VAT = £360 per month |
|---|---|
| Course period | The course runs from September to July. We do not teach regular lessons in August. |
| August provision | In August, revision courses and mocks will be available. These can be booked and paid for separately. |
| Weeks from September to July | There are approximately 44 weeks of lessons from September to July. Some months have 4 lessons, some will have 5 lessons. |
| Centre closure weeks |
During the course year, the centre is closed for 4 weeks:
• Two weeks in December • One week during Easter • One week on the last weekend in May |
| Teaching weeks | 44 weeks – 4 closed weeks = 40 teaching weeks |
| Lesson length | Each lesson is 2.75 hours. |
| Total teaching hours | 40 weeks x 2.75 hours = 110 teaching hours |
| Course fee spread across months | £360 x 10 months = £3,600 |
| Hourly equivalent | £3,600 ÷ 110 hours = £32.72 per hour |
| Why the monthly fee stays the same | The monthly fee stays the same because it is spread evenly across the course. Some months will have 4 lessons, some months you will have 5 lessons, but the fee is always £360 monthly. |
| Unforeseen closure | If we are closed for any unforeseen reason (which has never occurred apart from the COVID years), we will ensure that the lesson is taken online. |
| Teacher/student ratio | There are 6 adult teachers and 6 student markers in a class of 24 students. |
How We Are Different
While many 11+ platforms focus on volume and access, our approach is built around genuine understanding, structure and support.
| Many 11+ platforms offer | We focus on |
|---|---|
| Large banks of papers | Teaching children how to think |
| More resources | Corrections and understanding |
| Online membership access | Live teacher-led lessons |
| Marketing claims | Honest progress feedback |
| General practice | FSCE/CSSE-specific preparation |
| Quantity | Quality, accuracy and exam discipline |
Corrections Are Where the Learning Happens
Corrections are not an afterthought. We expect children to understand why they lost marks and how to avoid repeating the same mistakes.
Writing Is Taken Seriously
For FSCE and CSSE preparation, English writing is taught carefully. Children work on sentence structure, vocabulary, planning, timing, description, accuracy and exam discipline.
As they progress through the 11+ year, they complete regular timed writing practice, helping them think quickly, manage time and improve the quality of their written work.
Grammar School Outcomes
Our students have achieved strong grammar school outcomes over several years, including entry to CCHS, KEGS, Southend and Colchester grammar schools.
Results depend on the child’s starting point, consistency, homework, corrections and parental support. We do not guarantee grammar school entry.
